In response to the release of the Darfur scorecard, Rep. Woolsey said: “The United States must use its influence and economic power to promote human rights and put a stop to the killing of innocent people in Darfur. Peacefully resolving the crisis in Sudan is one of my highest priorities in Congress. I will continue to work to ensure that the U.S. takes immediate steps to ensure that Darfur’s civilians are protected and that those who have committed atrocities are held accountable for their crimes.”

Rep. Woolsey gave a speech in front of thousands at the April 2006 "Save Darfur" rally in San Francisco.

She participated in the August 2005 "Dear Sudan, Love Marin" forum in Marin County, California, and convinced her colleague Rep. Donald Payne to join her across the country for this event.

Rep. Woolsey promoted the organization "Dear Sudan, Love Petaluma", which was the first of its kind and contributed to the creation of dozens of organizations like it.

She gave the keynote address at a Nov 2004 forum in Petaluma, California about the crisis in Darfur.
